Government is preparing for Zimbabwe’s participation at the Expo 2020 Dubai, which is set to be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates next year from 20 October to 10 April 2021, under the theme “Connecting minds, Creating the future.”

In a statement issued by the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) this week seeking for the services of an advertising agency and a media house to assist with the preparations, the Deputy Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Martin Rushwaya, indicated that Zimbabwe would participate under one of the exhibition’s three sub-themes, opportunity.

“The three sub-themes: opportunity, mobility and sustainability, are articulated as timeless drivers of progress that continuously inspire the creation of a better future. These three sub-themes will be interpreted through the lenses of innovation, inclusion and understanding. Zimbabwe chose the opportunity cluster with the vision to highlight how Zimbabwe is an awakening giant, open for business and a land of vast opportunities,” said Dr Rushwaya.

Given the high quality of various marketing materials required to ensure that the country puts its best foot forward on the global arena during the World Expo, Government is working with a number of private sector marketing specialists who include the Marketers Association of Zimbabwe (MAZ).It is seeking the services of a production house and advertising agency for the production of various materials.

“In line with the preparations for the Expo, the OPC…seeks the services of a reputable and capable media house for the task of creating the relevant digital format information, education and communication (IEC) materials. This, a crucial task, will include collecting /gathering all relevant data and process information into various types (such as) animations, videos and more. The media company will support the work of Zimbabwe’s National Co-ordinating Committee on the production of marketing collateral and exhibition material for Expo 2020 Dubai,” Dr Rushwaya highlighted.

When selected the advertising agency is expected to come up with various IEC materials such as magazines, booklets, leaflets, brochures, videosand infographics among others. It is also expected to assist with establishing and supporting strong branding for Zimbabwe’s participation at the world expo, co-ordinating of the creative work for the show as well as developing and managing Zimbabwe’s media campaigns for Expo 2020 Dubai.

The World Expo, which is held every five years, presents an opportunity for participating countries to market their brands to the world through their pavilions and exhibits. In July this year the OPC issued a statement advising that Zimbabwe had been offered a free kiosk by the event organisers and invited companies which were willing to participate in the global show.

“Zimbabwe has been offered a dedicated kiosk at no cost and intends to take full advantage of the opportunity. This kiosk will form part of Zimbabwe’s showcase and will augment Zimbabwe’s country pavilion exhibition,” said the OPC then.

The OPC emphasised the need for products to be exhibited to be reflective of the Zimbabwean quality and culture.
