This year’s edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair has been pencilled for 20 to 23 July. This follows the recent sanctioning of the event to go ahead by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Writing to the ZITF Company board Chairman, Busisa Moyo in a letter dated 21 April 2021, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry Industry and Commerce, Dr Mavis Sibanda advised of the confirmation of the dates.
“Please be advised that the President has approved that the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair be held during the period 20 to 23 July 2021,” said Dr Sibanda in the letter.
Last year the fair could not be held due to the COVID-19 pandemic which saw the Government imposing a lockdown and other safety protocols to prevent the spread of the disease. These limiting the number of people attending events to a maximum of 50, masking up and maintaining social distance. These requirements and the restrictions on international travel at the time made it difficult for the company to hold the event.
In January ZITF Company Marketing and Public Relations Manager, Stella Nkomo indicated that the event would go ahead this year and that her company was still weighing the format(s) for the fair.
ZITF2021 was originally scheduled to be held from 20 to 24 April 2021 under the theme, “Leveraging technology as the new normal for business.”
