The government has appointed ZimTrade Chief Executive Officer, Allan Majuru as Zimbabwe’s Expo 2025 Osaka Commissioner General. This was announced by the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Monica Mutsvangwa during a post-Cabinet media briefing this week.
The world exhibition, which is set to run under the theme: “Designing Future Society for our Lives,” will be held in Osaka, Japan from 13 April to 13 October 2025.
“A National Co-ordinating Committee has been tasked to oversee preparations for Expo 2025 Osaka. The private sector is represented by the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI), the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC), the Chamber of Mines of Zimbabwe, the Small and Medium Enterprises Association, and the Shipping and Forwarding Agents Association of Zimbabwe, among other business associations,” the minister said.
Mutsvangwa appealed to the private sector to participate in the event.
“Participants from the private sector are being encouraged to sponsor their participation, and to profile their investment projects, develop robust digital marketing platforms and enhance product and service visibility. A robust communication and publicity strategy will be developed to ensure adequate information dissemination and raise awareness of the Expo 2025 prior to, during and after the Expo,” said.
The minister highlighted that Zimbabwe would use the exhibition to market her national brand and its diversity.
“The country will use the opportunity as follows: to promote the Brand Zimbabwe campaign and showcase its social and cultural diversity; to promote Zimbabwe’s trade and investment opportunities as well as tourist attractions; to benchmark Zimbabwe’s innovations, products and processes against international best practices; and to re-engage with the international community,” she said.
Majuru, who led Zimtrade since 2018, is an international trade expert who has led many Zimbabwean missions to various countries across the globe in search of export opportunities for the country’s businesses. Ambassador Mary Mubi of the Office of the President and Cabinet headed Zimbabwe’s participation at the Expo2020 Dubai in 2021 and 2022.
