The Institute of Directors Zimbabwe (IODZ) has announced that this year’s Director of the Year Awards (DOYA) event has been pencilled for 6 July in Harare.

The institute made the announcement on its social media handles last week. The event is set to be held under the theme: “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.”

“The Institute of Directors Zimbabwe is proud to announce the return of the highly anticipated Director of the Year Awards. This prestigious event will take place on July 6th, 2023 at (the Sango Conference Centre) Cresta Lodge,” the institute posted.

The awards aim to recognise and reward directors from various sectors who distinguish themselves as outstanding leaders in various areas.

“We cordially invite you to nominate exceptional directors who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, innovation, and excellence in their respective fields. This is a unique opportunity to recognize and celebrate the remarkable achievements of Zimbabwe’s most distinguished directors,” the institute said.

This year’s event is expected to be different from previous ones in that the institute added new award categories to recognise and reward diversity and excellence among boards of directors and the quality of annual reports. The new categories are the best diverse company, the board of the year and the report of the year.

According to the IODZ website, the institute introduced the DOYA awards in 2005 to recognise the achievements of a single individual in Zimbabwe who would have distinguished himself or herself as a board member.
