The Marketers Association of Zimbabwe (MAZ) is celebrating its Marketing Week with a number of activities in Harare and other cities. This year’s event, which is the second edition, is running from 24 to 28 July under the theme: “Marketing – The Engine for Business Transformation.”
The Marketing Week seeks to celebrate the marketing and related professions and, therefore, during the Week, the association encourages its members to participate in the various activities that it has lined up.
According to communication mailed to the association’s members this week, a number of activities have been arranged at different places to commemorate the Week.
“We have lined up webinars from Monday to Friday (which are) tackling various topics among them marketing, public relations, digital marketing, customer service and sales. We are hosting marketers’ socials where we encourage you, our members, to come, meet and network with fellow colleagues,” the association said in the statement.
“We will be hosting a Speed Networking Cocktail in Mutare on Friday 28 July. In Harare we will be hosting the Marketers Braai-Karaoke Friday at the MAZ offices from 1630 to 1830hrs. In Bulawayo, we will have a students’ public lecture at (the) Bulawayo Polytechnic (College) on Wednesday and a marketers’ social on the same day,” said the association.
The highlight of the first day was a webinar, which was held under the topic, “Progression of marketing in Zimbabwe – then and now.” The panel of the event was made up of Xarani head of change management, Priscilla Sadomba, AFC Commercial Bank marketing and corporate communications executive, Andrew Tawodzera and Cimas Medical Aid Society group marketing manager, Bhekimpilo Ntini. The webinar was moderated by National Foods sales and marketing manager, Theodora Kadzinga.
On Tuesday 25, July the association held a discussion on “Digital Marketing -Emerging Technologies & Impact on Marketing,” where Barkers Ogilvy head of digital, Taffy Gotora, was one of the panellists. The other panellists were Liquid Intelligent Technologies digital manager, Arthur Suwali, and advertising practitioner, Tinovimbanashe Hove. Bayobab (MTN Group) digital platforms manager, Farai Chando moderated the webinar.
Yesterday MAZ hosted a webinar under the topic: “Sales in a Turbulent Environment.” The panellists for the event, which was moderated by MAZ head of marketing and operations, Enia Zimunya, were M&J chief executive, Jerry More Nyazungu, Iveri Payment Technilogies (Mauritius) regional business development manager (SADC), Edmore Munyanyi and business consultant, Conchita Veermak.
Apart from these activities, MAZ corporate members display banners marketing their brands outside the association’s Milton Park offices in Harare as part of the marketing fanfare.
