Masuka appointed agriculture minister

The Zimbabwe Agricultural Society (ZAS) Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Anxious Masuka has been appointed as the new Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Water and Rural Resettlement.

The Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr. Misheck Sibanda made the announcement in a statement issued today.

“(T)he President Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa has…appointed Dr. Anxious Jongwe Masuka as the Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Water and Rural Resettlement. Dr. Masuka’s appointment follows the death last month of the former Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Water and Rural Resettlement, Air Chief Marshal (Rtd) Perrance Shiri,” read part of the statement.

ZAS, an agricultural development society, is the organiser of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Society which, until last year, was known as the Harare Agricultural Show.

The agricultural scientist has a track record that dates back to 1988 in the agricultural sector. He worked in various capacities at the Zimbabwe College of Forestry, the Forestry Commission, the University of Zimbabwe, the Tobacco Research Board and Ariston Holdings.  He joined ZAS in 2015.
