The Zimbabwe Agricultural Society (ZAS), the organisers of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show, has secured a funding partner for its planned shopping mall project. ZAS President Ngoni Kudenga announced the development during the official opening of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show yesterday.

“As some of you may recall, in 2019, a foundation stone for a ZAS shopping mall was laid by His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa. I now, therefore, wish to announce that the developers have completed almost all preliminary and administrative requirements and commencement of its construction is now imminent with the expected date of the ZAS Shopping Mall set for June 2024. This development will complement the fuel station and other planned development of a hotel and conference centre,” Kudenga said.

The society announced the plans for the construction of the US$20 million shopping mall on its 25-hectare fairground in Harare in 2017, but progress on the project has been hamstrung by the lack of funding.

Although Kudenga did not disclose the name of the partner, Terrace Africa, a property development and management company operating within the African real estate industry since 2011, has been linked to the project. The ZAS shopping mall project is listed on the company’s website under its future projects page. The company has reportedly delivered over US$150 million worth of projects focusing on convenience retail so far.

According to the Terrace Africa website, the planned mall will be a mixed-use retail scheme
