Zimbabwe is set to host the inaugural African Marketers Confederation (AMC) Conference which is pencilled for October. This was announced by the Marketers Association of Zimbabwe (MAZ) during a briefing held in the capital this week by the association to inform the market of the event.
MAZ is one of the 10 African national marketing organisations which make up the AMC.
The event is set to run from 19 to 22 October 2022 at the Elephant Hills Hotel in Victoria Falls under the theme: “ The astute marketer: Reshaping the future of business in Africa”
MAZ president, Professor Zororo Muranda said that the conference would position Zimbabwe as a major tourist and meetings destination through the sharing of information.
“The benefit through information sharing is they can upgrade themselves through various programmes. Above all, the conference is vital in marketing Zimbabwe as a safe tourist destination,” Prof Muranda said.
MAZ executive secretary, Gillian Rusike commented that the conference intended to highlight marketing as a profession and provide local companies with an opportunity to foreground their brands.
“We believe this conference will not only add a feather in the cap of Zimbabwe tourism but will also provide a platform for local companies to shine,” Rusike said.
The AMC stated that the meeting would enable Africa’s marketers to share solutions and tools to the continent’s marketing challenges such as its varied societies.
“The AMC Conference is the must-attend Pan-African event for marketing professionals. It will focus on solutions for marketers across the continent and will provide practical tools for marketers to use in appealing to its diverse audience,” the continental marketing body said about the event on its website.
Founded in 2011, the AMC is a collaboration between the African national marketing bodies and associations to exchange expertise and information and to promote the marketing profession as a whole. Its members are national marketing bodies from Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mauritius, Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
