The dates of this year’s edition of the SMEs International Expo have been brought forward by a week. This was announced in a notice issued today by the event’s organisers.

Blessing Magenga, the Group Chief Executive of Twin Investments, which organises the event notified stakeholders that the show that was supposed to run from 26 to 29 October would now be held from 19 to 22 October 2022. Magenga indicated that the development had been necessitated by an unnamed national event whose dates she did not disclose.

“The organisers of SMEs International Expo wish to officially advise of the decision to move the 12th edition dates of the Expo to 19 to 22 October 2022 at the Rainbow Towers Hotel and Conference Centre under the theme: “Unlocking digital opportunities for global-oriented SMEs in Africa and beyond.” The reason for changing the event date is (that) it is now clashing with a national event,” Magenga said in the statement.

Commenting on the preparations for the event, Magenga highlighted that they were progressing well.

“(The) preparations for the highly anticipated multi-sectoral (and) all-inclusive trade exhibition have been progressing well with space uptake currently at 70 percent of capacity. Ten countries are set to come, with world-renowned UK digital marketing guru, Paul Smith and Spanish business development expert, Peter Hurst coming to speak at the two-day conference on 20 and 21 October 2022,” said Magenga.

The SME International Expo debuted on the market in 2011 at the Business Hub (formerly the Harare Showground). It is one of the exhibitions which were launched during the dollarisation era. A number of them fell by the wayside owing to the vagaries of the ongoing economic challenges but the organisers continue to ensure that it is held without fail every year.
