The recently appointed Minister of Lands, Agriculture & Rural Resettlement, Dr Anxious Masuka is set to be the guest honour at the second edition of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Society (ZAS) Annual Media Awards that are pencilled for Friday this week. The event is going to be held virtually.
This was announced by the society this week.
“(The) Zimbabwe Agricultural Society is committed to promoting agricultural information dissemination for national development through the Annual Media Awards, to be held on the 28th of August, with the newly appointed Minister of Agriculture Honourable Dr A.J Masuka as the guest of honour,” said ZAS in a tweet yesterday.
According to ZAS, the Agriculture Media Awards aim to encourage coverage of the agriculture sector in the local media in a manner that has a favourable influence on decision-makers, the public and the sector in general.
The Awards reward media practitioners who would have meaningfully contributed towards creating awareness on the activities of the agriculture sector, issues affecting it as well as its role and relevance to economic growth and sustainable development in Zimbabwe.
The awards have 13 categories which include the overall Agricultural Sector Best Reporter.
The Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Monica Mutsvangwa was the guest of honour during the inaugural awards ceremony held in June last year.
