The Zimbabwe Association of Business Communicators (ZABC) has announced that is set to introduce a certified Master of Ceremonies (MCs) course to sharpen their skills and improve their craft.

The association announced in an advertisement that it posted on its social media handles and those of its stakeholders such as the Marketers Association of Zimbabwe (MAZ) last week. The course is pencilled to commence on 28 March 2024.

The association told Business Events yesterday that the course had been necessitated by the gap in training gap which the business communications body noted as MCs discharged their duties.

“We are running an eight-week course to certify professional MCs. In our work, as an association for public relations and corporate communications professionals, the need for trained MCs for their events kept coming up. As such, we developed an intensive training for people who want to be professional MCs,” the association said.

The courses cover communication and public speaking skills, event planning and script writing, event protocol and etiquette as well as personal branding and marketing for MCs. The course is open to both ZABC and members and non-members. It is accredited by MAZ’s Business Institute.

According to ZABC, lessons will run every Thursday on a part-time basis to accommodate those who are in full-time employment.

In July last year, MAZ introduced a professional event planning course. The MCs course adds to the number of events courses that are being offered by various private institutions such as Speciss College in addition to the events degree programme offered by the Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT).
